How Does General Manager Work In An Organization?


A general manger is the commonly abbrivated as GM. In an organization he willl be the head to all managers. Some of the small scale factories or companies have only manager. Anyhow all the heads of the each department have report to this general manager. Later this GM will be reporting to his president or vice president of a company. For lagre scale companies or factories for each department a GM will be working. There fore such companies will have more than one general manager. He will be reponsible for all the operations and maintain smoothly work flow between all the departments and solve the conflicts among them.

The general manager is considered as the baby sitter, whip cracker or a problem solver. This is because any conflicts arised between departments, coworkers or with other companies he is one who should resolve the matter with patience without affecting the work get done. The important task of his is that when the company orders the production, the general manager must check the whether the goals have reached or exceeded set by the president, vice president, executive board or CEO.

There are various jobs of GM such as planning the administration jobs, HR management, project management, maket supervision, financial management, the production and administration. In panning admin the manager should have the leadership quality to assist or organise the board os staff for developing the annual plans, evaluation and reporting the pals done. Analysie the documents or papers prepared during annual plans which assist in determining the short and long term goals. In human resource managing the manager will recurit the employee for working on the contract or project undertaken by the company. The training will be givn to the employee and develop the policy and documents for all employee relations.

The GM in field of project management, oversee the company transport, accommodation and subsistence. Negotiate the deal for distribution of programs, merchandise and questionaries. Th manager should hire and check the delivery or transpoet of all the production equipments and technical acessories. The manger of marketing will oversee the products are distributed all over the market and publicity the materials through various media such as programming, mail or brochers. He has to coordinate the future promoters that support the company with potential.

In financial management the general manger will over look aon the annual budget and regular checking of the statements and annual auidts. Provide the cash strategies and recommend on investments. The manager will also have vision regarding on financial health of company and recommend for effective utilization on short and long term debts including the purchasing and sales. At last but not the least the over all administration is very nuch necessary for manager as to ensure the client and file integrity. Maintain the accuracy of all the records that include annual report, annual production and the inventory. Over all assist in developing the forms and tools and increase in efficiency of the management.
